The Power of Perception

The Power of Perception

Have you ever had a hard time understanding someone? Or had a hard time getting someone else to understand you? Ever felt like you were “seeing things differently”?

Imagine if you could see the world through someone else’s eyes. Or if they could see the world through your eyes.

This highly interactive, experiential session focuses on:

  • Shaping Perceptions: What forces shape our perceptions generally? What forces have shaped your perceptions, specifically?

  • Perceptions of Ourselves & Others: How do our perceptions influence how we see ourselves? How do they influence how we perceive and relate to others?

  • Emotional Intelligence: How do our perceptions influence how we build and sustain trust and relationships, how we communicate how we feel, and how we perceive others’ emotions? How might we see a situation “through someone else’s eyes”?

  • Making Decisions: How do our perceptions influence how we make decisions, especially in a team setting in the workplace? How do we respond to differences in perspective? Can we value diverse perspectives while still making timely decisions?

"Recognize that the information you know is probably incorrect. And, in the

best case scenario, the information you know is probably incomplete."

Applications: This training applies powerfully to a variety of important topics:

  • Team Building - How do we perceive one another as teammates? Are our perceptions accurate? What are we missing? What do you wish others saw in you that they might be missing? How can we strengthen awareness, trust and effectiveness?

  • Diversity - How do we perceive others? How do we perceive the situation we’re in - the barriers, threats and opportunities that might exist? How can we come to value and seek out diverse perspectives?

  • Cross-Cultural Competence - How does our culture influence our perceptions? How can we recognize and bridge cross-cultural differences? How can we build meaningful and productive relationships across cultures?

  • Customer Experience - How do our customers perceive us? Why do they see us that way? What can we do to see the experience from their perspective? How can we build a stronger relationship with our customers?

  • Partnerships - How does each partner view the other(s)? What perceptions are accurate and which are inaccurate? Where can we make adjustments to our perceptions, and to our actions? What can we do to strengthen our partnership?
